This requires a lot of time to complete the process and acquire the files needed. Other forms of downloading files from a newsgroup involve the process of downloading all the headers available. For newsreaders to download and concatenate articles to form the original feed, only valid articles containing similar message ID are downloaded. A single feed is broken down into smaller segments referred to as articles. Headers of articles or segments of larger files are written on a single NZB containing the unique message ID of the specific article. The idea of an NZB file was initiated by NewzBin thus, abbreviated the file format from its name. These files can be opened on machines installed with operating systems including Mac, Windows, and Linux making it versatile. NZB files are applicable on cross platform environment. File extension NZB is commonly linked to the files containing headers of larger files fed by a newsgroup or Usenet.
